art on the hill : victoria park & windmill hill art trail

I have been active with Art on the Hill local community art trail from its outset (2007) and part of its organising Committee since 2010.  Displaying artistic verve and commitment to quality alongside community ethos within a small inner-city neighbourhood seems to have made the Trail popular across the board amongst established residents and recent arrivals.

The church has been a communal exhibition venue.

I have developed its exhibiting space and shows of work 2007-12, curating works by 8-10 contributors – artists, and enthusiasts (children included) – each year in a variety of media from sculpture and painting to video and installation.  With the church's 2010 Lent exhibition to put on, I also provided a quantity of 4' x 8' exhibition boards to show works of all sizes, a subsequent asset.

The venue has been lively.  In 2009 I had a hand in starting the large scale Sunday evening Trail classical choral concerts that became a staple of the Trail 2009-12: Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Vivaldi.  One of the most exciting offshoots of my residency.  See the choral page for details.

In subsequent years I have encouraged performance and organised slots for individual acts as part of the Trail's organising committee – poetry readings, a contemporary recorder ensemble, accordion playing, bands and some wildfire piano improvisation.

The images below show a few of the works, my own included, exbhited over the years.
